What Is Open Access?

Open Access grants immediate, free, and unrestricted online availability of peer-reviewed research articles. All articles published in Bali Tourism Journal are made freely available to the public at the moment of publication — with no embargo period, no subscription fee, and no registration requirement.

Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to full texts, and otherwise use published articles for any lawful purpose, subject to proper attribution under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

Accelerated Discovery
Researchers worldwide can read and build on findings without institutional or financial barriers, accelerating the pace of scientific progress.

Public Enrichment
Research funded by public institutions is returned to the public. Taxpayers and communities can benefit directly from the knowledge their investment produces.

Improved Education
Teachers, students, and institutions in all countries — including low-income settings — can access the latest research findings on an equal footing.

International License

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This means anyone may freely share, adapt, and redistribute the work — including for commercial purposes — provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors.

Author Copyright Retention

Self-Archiving & Preprint Policy

Pre-Submission (Preprint)

Authors may post a preprint of their manuscript (prior to peer review) on personal websites, institutional repositories, or preprint servers such as SSRN, ResearchGate, or OSF Preprints before submission. Authors should disclose this at the time of submission.

Under Review

Authors should not post revised or updated versions of the manuscript while it is under review at Bali Tourism Journal. The submitted version on preprint servers should remain unchanged during the review process.

Post-Publication

After publication, authors are encouraged to deposit the final published PDF in institutional repositories, ResearchGate, Academia.edu, or any repository of their choice, with a link back to the article DOI on Bali Tourism Journal's website.

Originality & Submission Policy
Plagiarism Detection

All submissions are scanned using the Turnitin plagiarism detection system before peer review. Manuscripts showing substantial similarity to previously published work will be rejected without review. Authors found to have submitted plagiarised work will be permanently banned from submitting to this journal, and their institution and funding body will be notified.

Prior & Concurrent Submission

Manuscripts must not have been published elsewhere (in print or electronically), nor be under consideration at another journal simultaneously. Exception: abstracts published in conference proceedings do not preclude submission, and prior presentation at a scientific meeting does not disqualify a manuscript from consideration.

Language Requirement

Bali Tourism Journal publishes manuscripts exclusively in English. All submissions must be written in clear, concise international English following scientific writing conventions. Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to have their manuscript professionally edited prior to submission.

Digital Preservation & Long-Term Access

To ensure the long-term availability and integrity of published research, Bali Tourism Journal is committed to digital preservation through multiple channels:

Platform & Technical Infrastructure
Powered By
Open Journal Systems (OJS) 3.5

Bali Tourism Journal uses Open Journal Systems 3.5 developed and maintained by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), distributed freely under the GNU General Public License. OJS is a fully open-source platform that supports DOAJ, OAI-PMH, and LOCKSS/PKP-PN standards for open access and digital preservation.

How Open Access Works

Open Access is enabled through four primary mechanisms. Bali Tourism Journal supports all four:

1
Open Access Publishing

Articles are published in this fully open access journal, immediately free to read and reuse. No subscriptions or paywalls separate readers from published content. Bali Tourism Journal meets the full Budapest Open Access Initiative definition of Open Access.

2
Digital Repositories

Authors can deposit their articles in institutional or subject repositories. This journal uses OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting), enabling major repositories and indexing services to harvest and expose article metadata automatically.

3
Author Rights Management

Authors retain full copyright over their work. By publishing under CC BY 4.0, authors ensure their work can be accessed and reused by the widest possible audience without transferring ownership to the publisher.

4
Institutional & National Open Access Policies

This journal supports researchers who are required by their funding agency, institution, or national policy (e.g., Kemenristekdikti, Indonesian government research mandates) to publish their work in open access venues. Publication in Bali Tourism Journal fulfils open access mandates.
